January: Rodarte for Opening Ceremony
The Rodarte sisters, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, have created their first menswear collection for the label: a capsule offering of knitwear pieces exclusively for Opening Ceremony. The pieces, two crewnecks and two cardigans, feature the duo's signature open weave and craft-inspired feel and are priced at around £1,700 each. | February: The Death of Lee Alexander McQueen
The fashion world went into mourning when Alexander McQueen was found dead, aged 40, in his London flat on February 11. Just a week beforehand, his mother Joyce had passed away. The coroner’s report from Dr Paul Knapman, which was released in April, confirmed that McQueen had killed himself. | |

| August: The Death of Corinne Day
After a long struggle with brain cancer, fashion photographer Corinne Day passed away on August 27. Her lens had captured some of the most iconic images and famous faces - including Kate Moss - of the past two decades and her talent was charted across the pages and covers of Vogue. Her Vogue shoots were known for their documentary style and her now famous Glastonbury shoot, Scene Stealers, from December 2007 firmly cemented festival fashion on the sartorial agenda. | |
September: Tom Ford’s Return to Womenswear
Tom Ford made a triumphant return to womenswear in New York during Fashion Week for spring/summer 2011. After dedicating the last six years since leaving Gucci to designing menswear and movie making, Ford acted as master of ceremonies at his Madison Avenue store, where he introduced his collection - which was modelled by Daphne Guinness, Stella Tennant, Julianne Moore, and Lauren Hutton - to a super exclusive gathering of editors and buyers. | | |

| October: Giles Deacon at Emanuel Ungaro
After a turbulent few seasons that had seen Lindsay Lohan's contract as artistic adviser at Ungaro terminated - as well as those of designers Peter Dundas, Vincent Darré, Giambattista Valli and Esteban Cortazar, the label's ceo Mounir Moufarriage, and head designer Estrella Archs (who was hired with Lohan) - it was announced in May that Giles Deacon would take on the role of creative director for the brand.
In October, he showed his first collection for Ungaro in Paris, and such was the buzz of the show that teams of fashion editors couldn’t get through the crowds – it was a good thing, then, that we had had a special preview beforehand.

November: Lanvin for H&M
In September, after much speculation about which label would be the next to collaborate with H&M, it was announced that Lanvin would be joining forces with the high street brand for a collection. On november 23rd the collection hit the stores and sold out within few hours. | | |
