Famous Reconciliations
In honor of Reconciliation Day, here are some who put their differences aside.
Rabin & Arafat
The situation: Geopolitical animosity made Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat bitter enemies for decades in the Middle East. Most of their deep-rooted conflict surrounded disputed land, recognition of Israel and the fate of this people.

Judd & Judd
The situation: As a mother-daughter duo, Naomi and Wynonna Judd became country music superstars. But their relationship deteriorated over the years, and eventually their private troubles became headline news.

Vanzant & Winfrey
The situation: Motivational speaker and author Iyanla Vanzant became a featured contributor on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," dispensing relationship advice on a regular basis. Then 11 years ago, she and Winfrey had a disagreement over the development of Vanzant's solo talk show.
An iconic advice columnist promoted April 2 as Reconciliation Day. Maybe all conflicts can't be resolved in a single day. The situation:Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry became baseball superstars during their tenure on this team. As their drug problems worsened, both became sports pariahs, shunned by the Hall of Fame.
Johnson & Kennedy
The situation: The deep acrimony between Lyndon B. Johnson and John F. Kennedy accelerated during the 1960 Democratic convention, when Johnson organized an unsuccessful coalition to derail Kennedy's nomination
Sonny & Cher
The situation: The late Sonny Bono and Cher were a husband-and-wife music sensation in the 1960s.They became TV variety-show superstars in the 1970s, until their combative divorce split their private and public partnership.
Hatfields & McCoys
The situation: In 1878, disputed ownership of a pig ignited the lethal vendetta between the wealthy Hatfields  and the working-class McCoys. But familial hostilities are often traced to their opposing sides in this brutal conflict.
Jeter & Rodriguez
The situation: The friendship rift between baseball superstars Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter became public fodder after Rodriguez criticized Jeter in a magazine article.
