When single, dating is like selling. You call someone out of the blue, like cold calling, and ask if they want to go out with you, you tell about yourself, and when they are not interested, then they hang up. Many salesmen are pushy just like anxious single men and women. We tend to engage in uncomfortable behavior that we are not very successful at.
So how should we properly date? Well, instead of bragging about how great your product is that you want to sell, why not ask questions to the person you want to date? Asking about their interests and hobbies can engage in an easy going conversation that can eventually lead to a date to find out more about this person. Then they can find out more about you as soon as they are interested. Being anxious and impatient can only lead to someone being too pressured to the point where they close their mind and stop having any interest for a potential date, similar to a product trying to be sold.
Many people wind up making fast decisions based on problems and a skillful diagnosis. When this happens, people move at a fast pace and when dating is involved, this kind of thought process can seem too impulsive and make a potential date move away and avoid this fast pace of dating.
Even though dating might seem like selling, it should be treated differently and more delicately. One needs to open their mind and not be over confident. It is human nature to feel like a rock star and expect anyone to accept a dating proposal. But if you make sure that your goal is to attract and not chase, you will find that the selling strategy of dating can be more enjoyable for both parties.
