How to enjoy date night at home?

Going out on a date doesn’t mean you have to spend over a hundred bucks. A date night out at a casual restaurant could wind up costing around $60. Going out to a movie and getting popcorn and candies could also add up. An alternative idea would be to invite your date over to your place for dinner. Not only is a date night at home less expensive, but it can be more romantic and intimate then going out. Here are some tips to plan a date at your home.
Clean your house. This is the first time your date will see your home so make sure it is straightened up and cleaned. The condition of your home will say a lot about you to your date. It isn’t important how big or expensive your home is, but how neat you keep it.
Have drinks ready. Wine and beer can set a nice mood to a romantic atmosphere. If you and your date aren’t big drinkers, non alcoholic drinks like soda, water, or juices can also do the trick. Offer your date something to drink as soon as she enters your home.
Make something classic and simple. You don’t need to be a star chef to put together a romantic dinner at home. A simple classic such as chicken parmesan, lasagna, or meat loaf can be perfect selections. They are also easy to make so you don’t have to stress about learning difficult recipes or complex meals. You can always be safe with classic meals instead of making specialty foods since chances are your date will like the classic dishes and might not fancy sushi or spicy Mexican dishes. Also, don’t spend a lot of time cooking while your date has arrived. If you happen to be running late and you find yourself still in the middle of preparing dinner, invite your date to help out.
Set background music. Some jazz or light R&B music will provide a nice atmosphere and take the pressure off of a silent room. Silence can provide awkwardness and make things seem a bit uncomfortable, so some background music can save moments of silence. At the same time, make sure you don’t have any interruptions like roommates or planned phone calls. Let people know you want privacy this evening.
Pick up a movie that your date might like. Dinner after a movie is a nice way to relax after having a full stomach. If you don’t know what types of movies your date likes, try going with a light comedy.
Have some blankets ready. It might not be so cold outside or even inside your home, but cuddling under the same blanket can be very romantic. If you need a helping hand at cuddling under a blanket with your date, try turning down your thermostat to give your date a chill so she will need a blanket that you will have ready ahead of time.
