Will.i.am told Ryan Seacrest that Justin Bieber needs to experience pain in order to create good music. Will.i.am believes that the 17 year old doesn't have many experiences to draw from in order to write hits.
"He's going to go through relationship drama [and that will make him successful]. Justin as an artist has to fight... the ones that stood around for a long time are the ones that are always fighting for something."
According to the Black Eyed Peas star, Justin is in danger of being a passing trend, just like Vanilla Ice said.
"We know the ones that get comfortable and then their career is short, 'Oh I remember that one song he had, that was cool.'"
Sometimes the more successful an artist is, the harder it is for that person to hold onto their strong fan base. Justin needs to evolve and he has to hope that his fans will evolve with him. He also needs to grow, which is more important than what pain will be inflicted upon him when Selena dumps him. He can't even grow a mustache.
Bieber has many obstacles ahead, but I also believe that he wouldn't really care if his fame faded. He's so young and he's made enough money to last a lifetime. His record label probably obsesses over his longevity much more than he does. Justin's an optimist. I think he'd make the best out of any situation, which isn't exactly good for writing records. He does need to go through some drama.
