Resort shows brought a tropical breeze, and editors went bananas for Hawaiian prints. But lately, street-style stars have been stepping out in a different motif: paisley. The retro seventies pattern has long been synonymous with names like Etro, but Oscar de la Renta (Fall ‘11), Carven’s Guillaume Henry (Fall ‘11), and Chloë Sevigny for O.C. (Resort ‘12) all worked it into their recent collections. You could wear it the de la Renta way—pairing one of his mosaic paisley dresses with opulent fox furs and patterned velvet coats—or opt for a single statement piece, like this Thakoon antique printed silk chiffon dress or Chloé champagne silk skirt, perfect to layer for fall.
