4 Secrets to Glowing Soft Skin

Today is not just about sexy lingerie and thong to make your man go crazy, if you’re planning for that special night of sizzle and romance on February 14, then focus on every inch of your body to make it ultra supple, soft and touchable
Here are some extremely easy-to-do steps to get your body in a perfect glowing condition before the big day arrives. All it needs is a couple of hours in the shower and you’ll be all soft and stunning and ready for your man!
  1. The first step is brushing. Body brushing not only gets rid of dead skin cells but it also improves circulation and can amazingly boost the immune system. While standing under the hot shower, take a soft bristled body brush and use it in long sweeping motions across the skin towards the heart, you will also notice a fine white powder coming from the skin as you brush. This is the dead skin cells that have been making the skin look dull. Brush until the skin is smooth but stop before the skin gets sore. Plus it’s also a calorie burner! You can also continue it eve after the Valentine’s Day for an ideally beautiful body skin.

  2. The next step is Exfoliation, which is a must to remove the layers of dead skin cells that have built up on the skin. You don’t have to come out of shower yet for exfoliation as it needs to be done in the shower as well. The exfoliator should be applied as you go, not to the entire body, so start with an arm or leg and gently massage in circular motions, always in the direction of the heart. Keep adding water and more exfoliant until the area is smoother, be extra gentle on chest. Give attention must be given to feet, elbows and knees as these areas are drier. There are many body exfoliants available in the market. If your skin is ultra dry get the one with Shea butter content.

  3. The next step is moisturizing. But wait, it’s still not the time to get out of shower, I know it sounds silly to moisture in the shower but it’s essential if you want quick results. There are loads of bath creams available in the market. My favorite isElemis Bath Milk as it works amazingly to make the skin ultra soft and supple. Apply it on your damp body and massage yourself till it is all absorbed, then go back into the shower again for a while.

  4. Well, it’s time to come out of the shower and come to the final step, which is after-bath-moisturizing. Coco or Shea butteris just great for after-bath-moisturizing, massage until it is all absorbed and feel an incredibly beautiful and soft skin. Plus, do prepare your nerves for a raunchy night as your man won’t be able to get his hands and mouth off your skin!

The Body You Want

I overheard some women talking the other day about me, not knowing I was in the same room. All positive thankfully - as I slinked down behind my tabloid magazine in the nail salon. One was preaching about how stressed and overwhelmed the other was and the other replied, “I’m not that bad! Have you read that article about Brooke Burke’s life? Manic is a better word for it.” I quietly laughed inside, as I did a quick check in to see if my norm is a bit overboard. It must have been the play-by-play in my recent Redbook editorial…the writer documented an average day in my life.
It’s not easy being a Hundred Percenter- in my life, that means great achievement, not wipe out. My four kids demand a lot and I am so used to being mommy, chauffeur, concierge, chef, doctor, referee, and so on. To run in over-drive seems normal for me, and I’ve learned to function pretty well there. In my business life, there are too many complainers, cheaters and pessimists. I know that focus and hard work pays off, not the mention the fact that being NICE goes a long way! On my recent fitness shoot, I was blessed to work with a crew that was giving 100% and firing on all cylinders. It saved me many hours of shoot time and validated my appreciation for efficiency. I love to work with people who are focused and passionate about what they do, and it makes me want to give even more back. Often that is wishful thinking, but I believe that what goes round, comes around.
If I could 'fess up: it’s been a really tough week, but what keeps me going is getting my head in the right place and embracing challenge rather than dreading it. It’s just like the “burn” in fitness. It’s those moment that make the difference. Hard work pays off and I believe that is when change happens. Now I am starting to sound like Tony Robbins (who I love), but it's true. When I am asked how I keep going after endless hours, and still stay sane, I think to myself, "what else should I do?" Ask me that before my morning coffee and you may see a different woman, but for the most part it’s mind over matter. I know that life’s toughest moments require more strength, love and good people to pull you through.
So as I sit here in my trailer (which feels like a Friday), icing my neck, away from my family, sore as hell from the past 6 days of grueling training…I think what an amazing product we will produce and how excited I am to share it with all of you - that’s what gives me strength to push through the final hours before we wrap. Here’s a screen shot from my shoot today.

Tips to Look Better Naked

This is probably the last thing you're thinking about this time of year, but for future reference, here's how to look better naked (no gym membership required):
ARMS: To boost circulation and exfoliate away any little bumps, give your arms a salt rub. Moisten a cup of sea salt with water until it forms a sticky paste, then massage into the skin, up and down the arm in circular movements. Rinse, towel dry, and apply body lotion.
CLEAVAGE: To make the most of your cleavage, no matter what size, sweep bronzing powder across your chest and cleavage. To highlight and accentuate the shape even further, apply a gold gel to the curve of each breast.
TUMMY: If your stomach isn’t as flat as you’d like, it could be due to poor posture and weak abdominal muscles. Improve your tummy instantly by standing up straight and imagining your spine is a long and elongated S.
BACK: Enliven sluggish skin and get rid of any ‘bacne’ by enlisting the help of a mud mask. Mud can be messy but it works miracles by attracting impurities and leaving your skin super-clear
BOTTOM: Zap problem zones like your bottom with a strong shower jet. With your shower nozzle work over your skin in circular motions to kick-start your circulation and move toxins. Switch from hot to cold water to get the maximum benefits.
THIGHS: Skin brushing is believed to break down fat in toxin-laden tissue (basically cellulite) and improve the body’s lymphatic draining system and blood flow. It also gets rid of dead skin. With a natural bristle brush or hemp mitt, using long, upward movements. Start at the feet and work up the legs and across the hips and the bottom. If you have sensitive skin, use your mitt with soap or shower gel to minimize damage by decreasing friction. If cellulite is your biggest problem, life is good!
ALL-OVER FAKE TAN: Great for camouflaging those little less-than-perfect body bits. First, exfoliate your skin, with a gentle scrub to avoid irritation. Massage the tanning product into your legs, blending thoroughly so you don’t get streaks. Apply sparingly over the elbows, knees and ankles. Blot with a tissue afterward to avoid any uneven color. Wash your hands immediately. If you do end up with unsightly streaking, apply whitening toothpaste to help lighten them.

Have you ever tried any of these tips? Do you think looking better naked is a confidence booster for women? Why or why not?

5 Tips For Smooth and Sexy Skin

The best shaving creams, razors, and pro tips for bump-free skin all summer long.
Put an end to razor burn
A recent study by Gillette found that 60 percent of women complained of dryness and irritation immediately after shaving. While many of us hail the precision of today's five-blade razor, experts say that if you're among those who itch or burn post-shave, you may want to downsize to a relatively primitive three-blade model. "When a five-blade razor is brand-new, it can cut hair down to a subdermal layer — which, if you have sensitive skin, can lead to ingrowns or razor burn," says Bret Reichley, head barber at F.S.C. Barber Shop in New York City. We like the Venus ProSkin MoistureRich Razor, $9.79, which is designed for touchy skin and has a moisture strip of soothing body butters.

Take your pick
Whether you're looking to grow less hair or choose a great shaving cream, these expert tips will give you the smooth skin you crave.

Banish bikini bumps
Ingrown hairs are the scourge of a bikini wax. "To prevent them, exfoliate your skin both the night before and the day after you get waxed," says Shays. She recommends using a dry skin brush made of jute or sisal fibers, which may sound intense, but she swears it's the best bump inhibitor. "Sweep it very lightly over dry skin, then wash the area with a 2 percent salicylic-acid shower gel, such as Phisoderm Anti-Blemish Body Wash ($7)." If you still get an ingrown, "Don't pick at it!" says New York City dermatologist Doris Day. Instead, dab it with an over-the-counter cortisone cream twice a day for a week. The good news is that most ingrowns go away on their own over several weeks, "but if a bump becomes inflamed or painful, your dermatologist can get rid of it with a cortisone injection," says Day.

Read the fine print
Before you buy a shaving cream, check the first three ingredients on the label. "If one of them is alcohol or fragrance and you have dry or irritable skin, forget it," says Jodi Shays, owner of Queen Bee Salon & Spa in Los Angeles. Instead, pick a sensitive-skin formula, such as Eos Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream Sensitive, $3.49, or — Shays's favorite — Kiehl's Ultimate Brushless Shave Cream Blue Eagle, $19 (above). Post-shower, rub on a lotion containing an anti-inflammatory ingredient such as menthol, urea, or lactic acid (found in Eucerin Everyday Protection Body Lotion SPF 15, $9.49). For hyperreactive skin, mix a dollop of Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, $10.33, with a drop of 1 percent hydrocortisone cream. "It smooths like a dream," says New York City dermatologist Neil Sadick.

Grow less hair!
Get this: Those shaving creams and deodorants that claim to reduce hair growth actually can work. "They contain plant-derived ingredients that can cause new hair to grow in finer and lighter in color," says cosmetic chemist Jim Hammer. If you're really bugged by body hair, the most effective option is prescription Vaniqa, but it's about $100 per 1-ounce tube. While it's FDA-approved only for use on facial hair so far, Sadick says it's safe to use elsewhere (and that many of his clients do). But, he adds, since body hair is coarser than facial hair, it could take longer to see results than the typical four to eight weeks it takes on the face.

And whatever you do...
DON'T… use shower gel as shaving cream. "Some contain a lot of perfume and, when used with a razor, can be drying," says Shays. (In a pinch, use hair conditioner.) And pretty please, never dry-shave. DON'T… get a wax right before or during your period, if you've had more than two caffeinated drinks, or if you're hung over — all of which make skin more pain-sensitive. The ideal time is the week after your period, says waxer Liana Mitrita of Kimara Ahnert Studio in New York City. A numbing, cooling spray such as Completely Bare Not Feeling It, $22, can also reduce the sting. DON'T… only shave up and down on your underarms. Going side to side and diagonally nabs those wayward hairs.

Katheryn Winnick's Love Hints

Katheryn Winnick's hints for keeping love steamy
The actress (who stars alongside Ashton Kutcher in Killers) knows that love takes effort. Her parents’ 39-year marriage is her source of inspiration and wisdom. Here are her 5 keys to staying together for the long haul.
Never go to bed angry. Winnick’s parents taught her this ancient one, and she believes it so wholeheartedly that she’ll stay up until dawn to hash out disagreements. “It’s important not to feel resentment toward your partner,” she says.
Talk every day. “Always have catch-up time to make sure you both stay on the same page.”
Escape. “Even if you’re just scheduling a night in a nearby hotel,” she says, “you need to find someplace to reconnect where there are no BlackBerries.”
Grow together. Always find activities to do together, she says, because that means you continuously grow together and learn about one another. “It’s very important to be active with your partner,” she says. “It teaches you about how the other person handles different situations, and teaches you about their goals and how they stay motivated—and if you need to help them.”
Let her know you’re thinking of her. “Leave little notes for your partner, and really make time for her,” she says. This shows that you think of her and plan to include her in your life, even when she’s not around to remind you.

6 Ways to feel Sexier

In order to feel more self-assured, attractive, and sexy in your own (bare) skin, you’re going to need to spend time doing things unclothed—besides just showering and having sex. I’m not suggesting anything extreme, just an assortment of activities to do, designed to gently nudge you out of your covered-up comfort zone.
1. Take a Bath
If you’re like most people, you don’t spend much more than 8 to 10 minutes in the shower. Bathing in the tub will help you to slow down your ablutions and will give you the perfect opportunity to become better acquainted with your body all over again.
2. Share Dinner in the Nude
Next to sex, eating is the most sensual thing we do. It engages every sense—even hearing, as we crunch into a crisp apple, say, or sip a spoonful of soup. A romantic dinner is often the prelude to lovemaking. It sustains us and is vital to our very well-being. And yet, we almost always do it clothed—for obvious reasons, of course. But, for the purposes of becoming more comfortable in the nude, there’s much to be said for pairing nakedness with a delicious meal.
3. Snooze in the Nude
Leaving your pj’s in the drawer for a night is a worthy experience. But to get the most out of your naked 8 hours, don’t just climb into bed, strip under the covers, and go straight to sleep. Spend some time experiencing the sensation of being sans nightie before you doze off. If you like the way your sheets make you feel, splurge on a new set that has a higher thread count than you’re used to and make it a regular thing.
4. Get a Massage
This step is a way to “practice” being nude by spending time in an environment where it’s okay. The most important thing to remember if you’re squeamish is this: The therapist will not be judging you in any way. “I’ve had people apologize for not shaving their legs,” says MK Brennan, past president of the American Massage Therapy Association. “Believe me, the massage therapist will be focused only on what’s going on underneath your skin: the musculature and any tense areas that might need extra attention.”
5. Get Fitted for Sexy Lingerie
Like a massage therapist, a professional lingerie fitter will take an objective view of your body. Unlike a massage therapist, she’ll go over with you what she sees as she measures you and evaluates the items you try on. Pay attention to what she says: She sees dozens of nearly nude bodies every day, and her reactions to yours will underscore just how normal it is—and, more important, what your best assets are.
6. Take That Nude Photo
Besides giving you an opportunity to be naked in a situation where you would normally be clothed, being photographed naked will yield a souvenir that you can use as inspiration. Even so, it should be as flattering as possible: The idea is to provide a sense of pride and possibility. Stick to black and white--it’s less distracting than color, and you’ll see fewer irregularities in skin tone--and use soft, diffused light to soften any lumps, bumps, or other imperfections on your skin.

The Naked Truth

Naked.
Does any word cut so close to the core of our deepest insecurities? When we’re naked, it’s not just our bodies that are on exhibit—it’s our hearts, our souls, our very self-worth that feels exposed and ripe for criticism. And if you’re like most women, you know that no one can be as hard on you as well, you.
As the editor-in-chief of Women’s Health, I hear from women every single day who share their greatest fears and their deepest anxieties about their bodies. And invariably, those stem from one thing: how they look naked.
That’s why this book is for you: If you’ve ever looked in a mirror at your naked self and felt anything other than spectacular, then you’ve come to the right place. Look Better Naked is for women who want to look hotter, live healthier, and—perhaps most important of all—feel more confident, in clothes or out of them.
What I tell the millions of readers of Women’s Health looking to achieve that goal is simple: I know exactly how you feel. Because many times, I’ve felt the very same way. And I’ve never been more intensely insecure about my body—and how it’s changed over the years—than in the weeks and months leading up to my recent 20th high school reunion.
At the end of my senior year at Bridgewater High School in New Jersey, receiving a “senior superlative” award during our graduation dinner was almost as important as getting a diploma—at least in my teenage mind. I knew I shouldn’t take the awards too seriously, that they were goofy titles, but I couldn’t help myself. I secretly rested my hopes on being singled out for something. "Most likely to Succeed" was out of reach, but maybe "Best All Around" was in the cards—after all, I’d played varsity soccer, was on student council, and socialized with geeks, jocks, and partiers alike.
As I pushed roasted chicken around my plate to calm my nerves, our class president announced the first few awards. Thunderous applause met each winner’s name, and the cheers grew louder and louder with each recognition.
As I’d hoped, my closest friends were raking in the accolades. "Best Looking" went to Betsy, Nicole easily nabbed "Sexiest", and my Broadway- bound pal Jeanine snagged "Most Talented". Then our class president made an announcement that I’m certain made my parents very proud: “And 'Best Buns' goes to Michele Promaulayko!”
Evidently the Class of 1988 found my snug Guess jeans more memorable than my performance in the classroom or on the soccer field. I eventually forgave them (most of them, anyway), but by the time my 20-year reunion rolled around two decades later, I felt like my trophy behind had lost its star appeal. Sure, I’d put time and effort into trying to stave off gravity and stay in shape through the years, but I certainly wasn’t twisting my neck to take notes on how my backside had “developed” as I’d gotten older, busier, and a little more complacent about the nutritional value of every morsel that passed my lips.
Truth be told, I couldn’t even remember the last time I’d caught a glimpse of my own bare bottom. I always wrapped in a towel before stepping out of the shower, I purposely dressed away from my full-length mirror, and I shopped online to avoid dressing rooms. As silly as hiding from my own naked reflection sounds, that sort of behavior wasn’t unique or some temporary lapse of reason—it’s commonplace among women today. One recent medical survey revealed that a mere 19 percent of women are happy with their bodies. In other words, of your five closest friends, only one of them thinks her physique deserves a thumbs-up.
I’d love to say this figure surprises me, but it doesn’t. A nude body shows who we truly are physically— and too often we’re not proud of our status. When we’re naked and unadorned, we’re totally vulnerable, exposing the workouts we’ve skipped and the high-cal desserts we’ve polished off. When we do find ourselves totally naked—maybe a couple of times a day, for a total of about 20 minutes— the unveiling usually happens because we’re either showering or having sex, or somewhere between the two. Soon afterward many of us rush to swathe ourselves in a bedsheet or robe before finally hiding beneath our clothes—the armor we use to protect ourselves from the world. And, probably like you, I have spent years and a good chunk of money curating a wardrobe of brands that flatter my body (thank you, Diane von Furstenberg!) and silhouettes that act like the fashion equivalent of smoke and mirrors—highlighting assets and deflecting eyes away from the flagging trophies.
But I’ve found a way to escape that cycle of embarrassment—and to stop shying away from the mirror. A few months after my reunion (confession: I wore Spanx), I made the biggest career move of my life. I left a long-term stint at Cosmopolitan to become editor-in-chief ofWomen’s Health—a magazine that serves up comprehensive (and sane!) advice on staying fit, healthy, and happy. And as I was getting to know the editorial staff as well as my colleagues at Men’s Health, our brother magazine, what impressed me the most was their vast knowledge about the human body. To help readers achieve their fitness, weight-loss, and nutrition goals, they scour the latest studies in prestigious journals, interview dozens of the country’s top experts, and, most important, practice what they preach—in the gym, in the kitchen, even in the office (where staffers regularly used the in-house yoga studio). They’re health aficionados through and through, and their dedication to their craft show—in their flat stomachs and toned arms. I immediately knew that I’d come to the right place for getting my body back in peak condition.
But I also knew that I wasn’t the only woman in America who was self-conscious about her naked body. So I surveyed more than 3,500 Women’s Health readers for their thoughts. Seventy-two percent of them immediately said they looked better clothed than naked. And when I asked which body parts made them most self-conscious, 62 percent said their bellies, 22 percent said their butts, and 16 percent said their breasts. But then came the most important part: Some 77 percent said they were highly motivated for Women’s Health to help them look better naked. So I got to work on this book.
Look Better Naked is an invitation to stop hiding from yourself, to rediscover—and reshape—the body beneath your clothes, and to boost your in-the-buff confidence. The next time you’re about to step into the shower, take a look at your reflection in the mirror and stash the image in your memory bank. That’s the last you’re going to see of the old you. Then put aside the weight-loss and shape-up disappointments you’ve faced in the past and get ready to look better naked!

8 Reasons You'll Look Better Naked

8 Reasons You'll Look Better Naked
There’s a woman out there who’s a lot like you in so many ways. But she’s just a little bit…better. Who is this slightly better version of you? Well, of course, it’s you—the you that can and will be. Here’s a sneak peek at what else you should expect to gain (or lose!) from Look Better Naked, and how the book will change your life for the better.
1. You’ll Exude More Confidence!
As researchers who study body image continue to discover, how we feel about our own bodies is completely subjective. Our mental makeover, designed to help you shed negative naked-self perceptions and build up your nude-body confidence, will eliminate your body-bashing mindset and help you begin to embrace the significant physical changes you’re just weeks away from realizing!
2. You’ll Have a Hotter Sex Life!
More than 50 percent of American adults have sex just once a week. If you’re part of the unlucky half, I want you to prepare to switch over to the pleasure-seeking side. Shying away from sex because you’re self-conscious about stripping down will no longer be an issue, once you discover how to hang up your hang-ups. Instead, you’ll be looking and feeling sexier, and having steamier sex—and lots more of it. And if you’re already getting it on with regularity? An additional boost of confidence will help turn good sex into great sex.
3. You’ll Flatten Your Belly!
Two-thirds of American adults are now overweight, and the obesity rate has increased by nearly 50 percent in the past 50 years. I know, I know—you try to eat healthy. We all do. But most of us don’t realize how out of control our portion sizes have become. Even relatively healthy foods have become caloric catastrophes, and much of the extra weight we pack on is no fault of our own. The exclusive Look Better Naked eating plan, designed by Women’s Health advisor Keri Glassman, MS, RD, will give you an eating strategy to lose up to 8 pounds in a month!
4. You’ll Savor Delicious Food!
What do olive oil, nuts, and chocolate have in common? They’re all yummy, but they’re also packed with monounsaturated fats. Researchers studying the benefits of the Mediterranean diet, which abounds with these ingredients, discovered that monounsaturated fats melt belly fat. You’ll find them among the 20 Look Better Naked powerfoods, which also include lean meats, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and tasty treats such as cheese and peanut butter, and you’ll eat them at every meal.
5. You’ll Torch Fat and Build Tight, Toned Muscles!
The exercise scientists who consult with Women’s Health have studied every method of weight loss under the sun, and they’ve discovered an amazing fact: You need more iron. Not in your diet—in your hands. The twice-a-week workouts, designed by Women’s Health contributor Rachel Cosgrove, a certified strength and conditioning specialist, will dramatically reduce overall body fat even without cutting a single calorie from your diet.
6. You’ll Stand Taller—And Prouder!
One of the fastest, easiest ways to look and, especially, feel better is to change your posture. The Look Better Naked plan will literally lengthen your neck and spine, so that you stand—and sit—taller, and carry yourself with more authority. “Correcting poor posture can make you look 5 pounds slimmer instantly.” says Deborah L. Mullen, a certified strength and conditioning specialist in San Luis Obispo, California. To keep that trim profile 24/7, you need to retrain and strengthen those belly-slimming, stand-tall muscles. We’ll tell you how, but in the meantime stick a note to your computer that reads: sit up straight, and drop your shoulders!
7. You’ll Fine-Tune Your Hair, Skin, and Nails!
There’s more to a naked-ready body than muscles and curves. Achieving smooth skin, a clear complexion, and strong hair and nails are part of the Look Better Naked program. That’s because it’s not just about how you look, but about how you feel—and details like these can have a major impact on your self-esteem.
8. You’ll Live a Longer, Healthier, Happier Life!
By choosing to eat better and live better, you’ll lower your risk of developing a number of serious health problems. You already know most of this, but let’s review: Excess fat is related to all sorts of illnesses, including chronic conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Lose it and you’ll be healthier! If you want to look—and feel— young and sexy and protect yourself from some of the most devastating diseases afflicting Americans today, you’re holding the right tool. That’s a lot to promise for one book, and that’s why you’ll find every page packed with useful, practical, positive information that will begin making an impact on your life today.
