What role we play?

The Role We Play
We reveal our individuality in many ways by the roles we play. with good reason. For the actor there is the stage setting and the script with the lines to be spoken and the actions to be portrayed. In real life we also function in a given setting, and although the script is missing, words and actions are often prescribed. As with the actor, the personality you bring to a role determines significantly the way it is interpreted.
The learning of roles begins early and continues throughout life. This Laming is achieved both through intentional instruction about ways of behaving-the rules of th€ game-and also through the roles we find ourselves in. The male child learns "to be a man" and the female to grow Up "like a lady." Role phying which often involves conflicts between what others want and what we want, can causal noticeable emotional upsets. A woman with supposedly "masculine" interests. for example, learns this at an early age. How we resolve conflict is itself a part of personality.
