If you are going to a world renowned high classy restaurant, then of course you should be expected to where a nice and clean suit. If suits are part of your daily wardrobe, then wearing a casual suit to the movies will be acceptable. However, if you are a more jeans and T-shirt kind of guy, then that’s all you need to go catch a movie with your first date. If you overdress for a movie, your date will have higher expectations from you the next few dates. Going to the movies is a good way to see who you are fashion-wise so be honest upfront with your choice of clothing.
Night clubs and bars as first dates are a bit easier to dress up for. However, these kinds of venues are a bit unconventional for a first date. In night clubs for example, the idea is to let everyone look at you and show off your finest clothes. Try to choose a trendy outfit or your nicest suit as this will surely impress your date. If you wind up going to a bar or a local tavern however, then you should avoid the awkward moment of walking in with a thousand dollar Armani suit and just go in a casual shirt and jeans.
Of course, these tips are just general guidelines on how to be aware of certain fashion mistakes in first dates, but everyone is different. At least by following this guidelines, you can be prepared for a successful first date, or at least dress up for one.
