Online Dating Scams Recovery Guide

We all know that’s it a really unpleasant situation. Maybe you have been scammed financially or emotionally, what steps can you do to recover? The only possible outcome you can do is to file legal charges in case the scammer got access to your account or your credit cards.
If you have been scammed while internet dating, what can you do to recover? Were you scammed financially (legally) or simply emotionally? You can only file legal charges if the scammer gets your access to your accounts, money or identity.
As soon as you realize you’re being scammed, immediately stop contacting the scammer and save ALL the correspondence you had with him, including e-mail letters and instant messages. Block their e-mail address and don’t answer phone calls. Don’t hesitate to send the correspondences to the credit reporting agencies and to the moderators of the dating site you’re using.
If you were scammed financially you can:
Notify the credit reporting agencies.
File a complaint at your local police station.
Check the status of your bank accounts and credit cards and block them in case you suppose the scammer has access to them. Then change PINs and passwords to them (By the way, it won’t be a good idea if you’ll choose ‘Your mother’s maiden name’ as a secret question, since it’s information can be not protected)
You can also file a complaint with the Internet Crime Report Center.
If you were scammed emotionally:
Try to find out why you became a ‘victim’
Find some information about emotional manipulations and read it.
Don’t forget that it’s not the end of the world and you can still recover and build a healthy relationship in future
These things can make if you feel stronger when you overcome them and though it’s an unpleasant experience, you still can find positive things in it. Never get in despair because of scams, but just be precautionary.
