What to say on your first date?

Going out on a first date can be a stressful and nerve-wracking experience, especially if you don’t know what to talk about. It’s also a good idea to avoid certain controversial topics on the first date. You should try relaxing your date and let them feel comfortable so you will be less conscious about yourself.
Therefore, it’s better to talk about easy going topics rather than getting into too personal questions. Most people wind up asking questions without even listening to the response. If your date winds up answering with just one word answers, this usually means they are not really listening to you or are just very uncomfortable.
One safe topic is music. There are few people in the world who do not appreciate music, no matter what genre it is. Maybe your date will like hip hop, country, rock, pop, or even salsa. Another nice topic to bring up is siblings. Ask if they are a twin, have any sisters or brothers, step siblings, or an only child. Did they share rooms? How was life growing up with them? Or if they are an only child, do they wish they had a sibling?
Ask and talk about their favorite past times. This will tell you a lot about your date such as their interests, hobbies, their favorite TV series, their favorite vacation places, and so on. You can also talk about animals and pets. This topic will bring out your date’s warm and fuzzy side and you will see if they are a cat or dog person, or even a bird person.
What many people think is a bad topic to bring up, politics can actually be a great thing to talk about. These days, people are more and more in tune with what’s going on in the world and know at least a little bit about politics. This can bring out someone’s passion which can be useful later on or even see how someone handles themselves in a heated debate situation. You might also find things you agree on which will make the date go even more well.
