When making an online dating profile, people tend to overlook one of the most important, yet simplest parts of the profile – the username or nickname. This will be the first thing which will be noticed and will leave an impression which will encourage your profile to be read. Choosing the name, however, is easier said than done.
The first thing to do is to give yourself plenty of time to come up with a name. You don’t need to be in a rush, just take some time to put some creative thoughts together. You don’t want to be stuck with a username you hate and then come up with a better one at a later point in time and regret not using it. Give yourself some time and the right username will come to you.
Write it down and mix things up. Take a piece of paper and play with some words and letters which will give interesting hints about who you are. Write down all words that you can describe about yourself and relate to you including your skills, hobbies, birthplace or location, and so on. Match different words together and play with the spellings of certain words. The more you mix and match your words together, the more ideas will come to your mind and you will put together something amazing without even trying. Don’t over think; just write down whatever comes to your head.
Once you have come up with a few different words mixed up, write down a short list of the best usernames you came up with. All of these will be your potential username, so try out a few and see how you like it and if it sticks to you. Then narrow it down to your top three profile names. Again, try these out and see which one you can really connect to and that you will be happy with for a while. It will be surprising to see how original these names you came up with are and once you figure out the best one out of the top three, stick with it and make it yours.
