In extremely sad news, 27-year-old soul singer Amy Winehouse was found dead today in her London apartment, the UK's Sky News reports.

Sadly, the talented Southgate, UK native Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment today.
Amy has been struggling with severe drug and alcohol addiction for several years, but police are reportedly currently treating the death as "unexplained."
The multi-Grammy award winning artist was signed to Island Def Jam, and released Back to Black in 2006, which is one of the label's most successful albums to date. Her track "Rehab" propelled her to international star status, including the remix with Jay-Z.
Her debut abum, Frank, was released in 2003.
This is extrememly sad news. R.I.P.

A spokesman for Amy Winehouse said:
"Everyone involved with Amy is shocked and devasted. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. The family will issue a statement when ready."
Her parent company record label, Universal, issued this statement:
"We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer."
