TMZ is reporting that Kim believes that the doll is modeled after her and thus violates her right to privacy. In the US, privacy laws protect people from an individual or organization that unlawfully intrudes into his or her private affairs, discloses his or her private information, publicizes him or her in a false light, or appropriates his or her name for personal gain. On these grounds, Kim is demanding that the company stop production of the dolls or else. According to Gather, Pipedream, produces a whole series of such toys fashioned after today’s hottest stars including Beyonce, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.
In this case, Pipedream is claiming that the similarity between Kim and the doll is “purely coincidental.” But in addition to the name of the doll, the side of the doll box also reads “busty bubble-butt bimbo who’s had more dark meat inside her than a bucket of fried chicken.” Thus, Pipedream’s argument may be not hold up. Not surprisingly, as precedent, Lady Gaga was able to stop production of such a doll in her likeness once her legal team took action.
